Darjeeling 1st Flush, Goomtee Estate
One of the most eagerly anticipated harvests each spring are Darjeeling First Flush teas. Light-bodied and fragrant, the season usually begins around early April and only lasts a few weeks. It’s the first picking of plants that have lain dormant at the foothills of the Himalayas all winter, and offers a brilliant snapshot of springtime.
This lot, from the Goomtee Estate, hails from old china bush plants and exhibits the category’s classic nutty and floral profile. Deep flavors of dandelion and hazelnut are balanced by a sweet aroma of buttered spinach from the infused leaves—an easy tea to sip at any time of the day.
