Sebastian Beckwith and friends started In Pursuit of Tea in 1999 to explore small farms in Asia and source the finest teas available. Over twenty years later, we continue to visit these historic tea-growing regions to taste the season’s harvest and bring back the best. Our looseleaf teas are made with great care, and sourced directly from small farms. When you purchase tea from us, you are helping to support threatened tea farming traditions, and to provide a fair price for a handcrafted agricultural product.

How it Works

Tea tastings are 60 minutes and are hosted on Zoom; extended sessions are also available.

Ahead of the event, each guest receives a tasting kit which includes three samples (~10 grams each) of looseleaf tea and a printed steeping chart. Brewing equipment such as an infuser basket or teapot can be included to complement your tea experience at an additional cost.

Guests will learn about traditionally made teas through an expert-guided tasting, and leave with practical tips and techniques to continue brewing tea with confidence, along with a new appreciation for this historic beverage.

Want to customize your event? We provide tea pairing experiences with artisan farmstead cheese, handcrafted chocolate, single-origin honey, and cocktails as well! Duration of the tasting, kits, and themes can all be tailored for your group after you've completed our Private Virtual Tea Tasting Inquiry Form at the bottom of this page. Please note any special requests on the form.

Book a Private Tasting

For intimate groups of up to 6, we recommend selecting a date at least two weeks in advance prior the event date.

For larger groups or custom workshops, please submit your virtual tasting inquiry form at least three weeks prior to the event date. This is to ensure the tasting kits arrive in a timely manner for each attendee.

2. A team member will be in touch to schedule a call about specifics for your tasting: date and time, and attendees' addresses.

3. Participants will then receive tasting kits in the mail and a suggested setup list. You, as the host, can set up and share a Zoom link ahead of the event.

Prices for private tastings begin at $95 per person. This includes the guided event as well as the cost of tea kits and domestic shipping. Shipments to addresses outside the continental U.S. are subject to additional international shipping charges. Pairing experiences with cheese, chocolate, or other ingredients are available at an additional cost per kit.

Cancellation Policy

Virtual tea tastings are non-refundable but redeemable for a future In Pursuit of Tea private tasting. Once processed, orders for tasting kits are non-refundable and non-transferrable.
