Bao Chong Roasted

$30.75
| /

The first style of oolong exported from Taiwan, Bao Chong is traditionally known for its minimal oxidation and long, twisted leaves, such as in this classic version.

For this spring lot, however, the farmer added a delicate charcoal roast, which deepened and refined the flavors. A creamy, lily-like aroma opens to a beautifully clear cup, with notes of light caramel, stone fruit, and a wisp of lemon. Whether you prefer more greenish oolongs like Nantou, or more heavily roasted types like Tung Ting, this is an elegant tea to sip.

A slightly different Taiwanese oolong

I am usually not such a big fan of so called "milk oolongs" with their buttery taste. However, this tea is different. While still in the tradition of greenish Taiwanese oolongs, it is less sweet and has a more complex flavor through the roasting. I am glad I discovered this tea through the IPOT subscription and I strongly recommend it to everyone who wants to explore a highly interesting, slightly unusual Taiwanese oolong.

Very good roasted balance

This is a very fine roasted oolong for the price. A good everyday drinking tea. There is a soft greenness to the oolong palette and just enough roasting to set it up as a Fall favorite.

A tasty tea although I would have liked it to be less green and more of that nutty/flowery kind of taste.
