Darjeeling 2nd Flush, Snowview Estate 2019
Situated at the foothills of the Himalayas, Darjeeling produces standouts in the black tea category, renown for their complex aromas and nuanced flavors. The flushes refer to the harvest: second flushes are the second picking of the plants, usually in late April or early May, and are processed to maximize oxidation of the leaves.
This classic example of the style, from the Snowview Estate, has a distinctive wintergreen aroma, leading to a balanced fruity and nutty flavor with a lingering hint of pine resin. It’s a strong but still soft cup, more medium-bodied than many other black teas.
