An unusual shape for a black breakfast tea, this small compressed disk is produced on Jingmai Mountain, in southwestern Yunnan Province, from leaves harvested late in the summer and fall. The interlocking circles of the wrapping echoes the curves of the Chinese term ruyi, which translates to as you wish.

Flake off a portion of the tippy leaves and try a quick rinse before brewing several infusions. A satisfying peanut shell aroma opens to an earthy and oaky flavor, punctuated with bright notes of grapefruit.
