Thunder Dragon Green

An exclusive from In Pursuit of Tea! This green tea, grown in Samcholing, Bhutan, has never before been exported. The tea fields are located at the summer palace of the second king, and were originally planted in the 1950s. A collective of 26 women now operate the 43-acre farm, hand-picking, pan-firing and rolling the small leaves into a simple twisted shape.

The bright, sweet flavor is reminiscent of a Chinese green tea, with vegetal notes of coriander and lemon peel and a delicate floral aroma. Unlike many green teas, the leaves can stand up to multiple steepings—try four or five. Enjoy the taste of a new tradition!

Country: Bhutan
Region: Trongsa District

Great quality Tea. Not bitter at all. I had always been buying my tea at the grocery store for the most part and never really enjoyed drinking green Tea but just did because I knew it was good for you. Now I do enjoy drinking this tea and I know it’s of much higher quality/better health benefits.

At last, a green tea worth drinking!

Green tea and I have had a rough relationship but no more...this is so good! If your doctor wants you to drink green tea, this is the one you want!

Delish!

Very tasty green tea, and you can tell there's a difference from the regular stuff you get at the store and these leaves. I was so fascinated at how light and delicate the tea leaves looked after I had steeped them. This must be real green tea...I'm not sure what I have been buying at the stores before now. :)

sweet and subtle

I am on a tea educational journey, trying to develop my palate to the various nuances of fine teas.. I grew up drinking Japanese green tea and was unexpectedly pleased with the Thunder Dragon Tea. First off, the twisted leaves were intriguing and the aroma, light and sweet. The taste is very subtle with a slight citrus taste. This tea is meant to be slowly savored and enjoyed at day's end.

This is a delightful green tea. Very Smooth and flavorful, with no bitterness. Having spent 2 months volunteering in the beautiful country of Bhutan, I am so glad that IPOT is supporting this project.

The first cup poured
Is rich with the essence of the leaf.

When the leaves have all full hydrated
And relaxed you taste the second
Cup a soft mellow richness that
Continues with every cup .
The leaves keep on giving!!!
