The namesake of Charles, England’s second Earl Grey, this tea—traditionally a blend of strong black tea and bergamot—has been produced since the early 1800s.
Our version starts with a single-estate organic Assam from northern India, which is scented only with pure bergamot oil that has been naturally extracted from the fruit’s rind. The full citrus notes are balanced enough with the rich black tea base so that it can enjoyed plain, or with milk and a sweetener.
Ingredients: black tea, bergamot oil

Who's Earl Grey, anyway?
With its beguiling citrus and floral aroma, Earl Grey has been a favorite of teatime since its invention in the early 1800s. The "Earl" in Earl Grey is indeed an aristocratic title: The tea was named in honor of Charles Grey, who was the prime minister of the United Kingdom from 1830 to 1834.
Tea aside, Grey may be best known for his involvement in the Abolition of Slavery Act of 1833, which made the ownership, sale, and purchase of enslaved people illegal through the British Empire—though notably, the British East India Company and the territories under its control were exempted from this law. How Grey became associated with a bergamot-flavored black tea, however, remains a mystery.
I've tried various sources of Earl Grey over the years and in pursuit of tea still has the best tasting tea by far. Make sure to follow the brewing instructions. Measure the temperature, the amount, the time, and you are in for a treat.
I found that your Earl Grey was exceptional in that the Bergamot additive's taste has only a light aftertaste and perfume. Most others are loaded with Bergamot to "sell" the uniqueness of this blend.
As soon as you open the bag, you'll know you made the right choice. The aroma fills your nose and the anticipation starts knowing this is going to be an amazing cup of tea. I could not be happier. This is the best Earl Gray I can recall having ever, and I've been drinking Earl Gray tea since 1976.
I’ve been a customer for years, l love your Earl Grey. I’m an Earl Grey snob and your blend of black tea and bergamot is perfect. Great beverage to start my day.
Great, robust yet complex black tea, but what really was exemplary was how long the bergamot lasted. For some reason the volatility of this oil was much less than some other examples, making the last cup of the pound I bought almost as fragrant as the first. A true classic - ordering another pound today!
This is an outstanding Earl Grey and officially my new favorite version of Earl Grey. I like my Earl Grey strong, i.e. able to stand up to the addition of milk and sugar, and because this one has an Assam base, it fits the bill. I appreciate that it has only bergamot oil as the flavoring instead of "natural flavorings" which can mean many different things.
The best and the only one I would brew for family and friends!
