Oriental Beauty, Late Summer Harvest
Well known for an intense, honey-like fragrance and rich texture, this highly oxidized oolong from western Taiwan attributes its distinctive character to tiny leafhoppers, which nibble the leaves while still on the plant. In order to fend off the attack, the plant alters its internal chemical composition, resulting in unique aromatic compounds that form in the leaves during processing.
Only the buds and tender young leaves of the Qing Xin cultivar have been used for this prized lot; revel in the layered notes of azalea, young plum, and cherry wood that unfurl through multiple infusions, like the scent of wildflowers on a warm breeze.
Try alongside this lot, from a different producer, to compare across two grades.
