Assam, Kachibari Village

As featured on NPR's Morning Edition!

This tea is from the Kachibari Village in northeastern India's Assam, one of the largest black tea production regions in the world. An unusual find from the area, this Assam highlights the passion of two producers, including Tenzing, on his organic 7 1/2 acre farm: He has taken a lead in making tea without the use of chemical pesticides or fertilizers. The hand-picked leaves have a sweet, full aroma reminiscent of molasses and gingerbread dough; the flavor is bold but balanced, with satisfying notes of malt, black currant and dried fruit.

Assam is one of the teas traditionally used in breakfast blends; try this version to experience a nuanced taste of this lush region, or our Bodoland Breakfast to compare production from a nearby farm.

Delicious

I'm not an expert on tea, especially high-end tea like this. I've only just started drinking it over the past few months. I really enjoy black tea and this is fantastic. The order was shipped quickly. The packaging was appropriate. It's great!

Simply Delicious!

Makes a bold cup of tea without bitterness. I drink it first thing in the morning -- straight up, no sugar or milk. .Would probably make excellent iced tea too.

The best Assam!

I had this at my friends restaurant and needed it for my home. It's so clean & fruity & tastes wonderful with a dash of cream and honey.

Excellent

As I sip my second cup of this excellent Assam this morning, I am sending all good wishes and gratitude to In Pursuit of Tea for your ability to procure such delicious teas and for your amazing delivery record. This particular Assam (I bought another one from a different grower a while back) is well rounded and flavorful in all the ways that everyone else has mentioned in the reviews here. It delivers well on its own and in blends - such a great way to start the day!

Gently assertive

A nice combination of delicacy and punch in flavor. 2nd flush is good too.

A dreamy Assam

In a word, incomparable! I love rich or golden Assams, and this tea is the best I’ve had of that variety. 1 tblsp of leaves produce an intense, smooth and flavorful cup when brewed at high temperature. Toasty and complex mixture of tastes with a warm, lingering aftertaste. I live in fear that this tea will be discontinued at some future time. It’s my #1 favorite, beyond question.

Cold brew Assam

Cold brew Assam has become the best tea for our family. It has depth and stands up to a slice of lemon and crushed raspberries. Delightful!
