This shu or black pu-erh tea is made from early-picked leaves that undergo a fermentation and aging process unique to the category. Produced in Yunnan Province in 1995 and aging in excellent conditions for the two decades, the flavor is rich, strong and earthy, with a complex, intense aroma; it’s often well-liked by coffee drinkers.

To prepare, rinse the leaves briefly with boiling water, then infuse multiple times, tracing the transformation of flavor. This full-bodied brew is a rewarding, all-day drinker.

Very nice

I have really gotten into pu-erh teas the last few years and this one was very good. The first brewing was very rich and the malty sweetness was pleasant. I held up well to several brewings.

So smooth and wonderful

This is my first time trying pu-erh tea leaves. The flavor is so smooth and peasant! I can have a couple cups in a sitting and not feel bloated. These leaves are also nice for resteeping a couple times.

Sort of Subtle

We all have taste expectations for the various tea varieties. One wants a certain assertive pungency in pu-erh since the expectation is that you will be changes in flavors as you go through multiple steepings. I didn't sense that quality in this loose leaf compared to compressed discs served in Taiwan. A friends who owns a wine & liquor store advises shoppers looking at expensive whiskeys "Don't buy it if you don't know what it should taste like." Buy this to learn about pu-erhs.
