This shu-style pu-erh tea—often well-liked by coffee drinkers—is made from spring-picked leaves that have been exposed to moisture during processing, in order to jump-start fermentation, and results in a deepening of flavor and fragrance. Produced in Yunnan Province in 1998 and aging in excellent conditions for the two decades, it brews up rich and smooth, with a soothing earthy aroma, and pleasant flavor of sweet grain.

To prepare, rinse the leaves briefly with boiling water, then infuse multiple times, tracing the transformation of flavor. This full-bodied brew is a rewarding, all-day drinker.

A delicious tea that I often drink in the mid-afternoon and evening. A friend liked it so much that I bought him some. Got me lots of tea cred.

Best iced tea

I found this iced puerh at a local coffee house a couple years ago. I was quickly hooked. When we moved, I had to learn to make it on my own. I make about a gallon at a time - it's a staple in the summer with a little Maple syrup. Highly recommend!!

New to fine tea exploration

I am a foodie and had to give up coffee a year ago. I have always loved tea and incorporated it into my routine but this year I have gone in head first exploring with teas, reading books about tea, etc. This particular tea is the first one to 'blow my mind' as to the diversity of varieties. I havent tasted a tea like this.. This one is altogether rich yet subtle, earthy but sweet and hard to compare to anything else. The thickness of the steep is amazing. This tea is friendly, plum like AMD seems like it is blended with a spice but it isn't. Great black or with milk/cream. It turns purpleish with cream. I tried a subtle amount of sugar as well as some local honey and the character completely changes. Three steepings with this tea are no problem. This tea would be a favorite among Hobbits.

The first brew is rich and earthy, the second brew rich and remarkably sweet. One of my go to afternoon teas.

I'm enjoying Shu Pu-erh tea very much!!
I was surprised to see the color and thought it was going to be strong but it wasn't strong. It's delicious and smooth.
