White Mini Bing

Good things in small packages: this stack of seven disks from Yunnan offers a charming introduction to compressed white tea. The large assamica leaves—native to this region—have undergone a minimal processing of hand-picking and sun-drying before being shaped into single servings.

Infuse multiple times with water around 185°F, or try brewing with hotter-than-usual water for a white tea (boiling, or just below) to bring out more flavor that still retains smoothness. Use one entire disk for a larger pot, or divide it into two servings for a smaller vessel. Herbaceous notes of chicory root are matched by aromas of salt, artichoke and aged books, and a mouth-coating texture: a deep, earthy tea, well suited for pu-erh drinkers or anyone seeking a comforting, full-flavored cup.

Great Tea - Could use m0re clear instructions

I have been a long-time IPOT customer, and appreciate the consistent quality of the teas, service, etc. I do wish that I had slightly better instructions with some of the teas, however, since it would give me more confidence with buying new ones. For example with this one, it says, 1/2-1 mini bing 2-3 minute steep for a teapot but then it says you can steep it more than once? That's not typical and it's also 7g of tea, which usually it's 3g for like a cup or so... idk just the lack of "tablature" makes it kind of weird... are they saying just cause its twice the tea you could steep twice?

Hi Silviu,

Thanks for your feedback, and apologies for any confusion! The White Mini Bing are 7 gram discs which can be used as-is in a larger vessel (teapots starting around 16 oz, for instance), or gently snapped in half by hand to use a portion of the disc for a smaller vessel (around 3 - 4 grams is our standard recommended leaf dose). Regardless of whether you're using the full disc or a half disc, these aged leaves have a lot of flavor and fragrance to release over multiple steepings, so do try re-infusing (perhaps increasing the steeping time by 30-60 seconds each round) and let us know how it is.

Note, as with all tea steeping, there are many ways to play with the variables: using more leaf or less leaf, hotter or cooler water, more or less time- all will affect the final cup, and adjusting one factor at a time and seeing how you like the resulting taste is a great method to explore. Enjoy the tea, and we appreciate all your support!

Mild and Polite.

My wife and I enjoyed the White Mini Bing. It was mild and pleasant. Polite even. The color of the brew was beautiful and it was a pleasure to drink.
