Darjeeling 1st Flush, Mim Estate
An iconic taste of the season, Darjeeling First Flush tea is eagerly awaited each spring. These distinctive teas are produced in small quantities for just a few weeks, beginning in early April; only the new young buds and first leaves are hand-harvested, and they undergo a unique hard withering process.
This lot (DJ 1), from the first day of production at the Mim Estate, boasts aromas of sesame brittle, leafy greens and artichoke. The bold character continues in the cup, with notes of cherry wood, walnut, clove and nutmeg yielding a nutty-spicy balance and a hint of deep molasses sweetness. Its classic china bush profile is crowned with a refreshing astringency and bright, almost minty finish—a treat for all first flush fans. Fuller bodied than our other 2026 pick from the Jungpana Estate.
