Genmaicha

Genmaicha is a popular Japanese tea; it's often made with a base of bancha, but ours is a blend of high-quality sencha green tea and roasted rice. The style evolved as a way to stretch the tea harvest, and its balanced grassy and nutty flavor remains a favorite.

This lot is grown on a small, century-old family farm in Shizuoka; after the leaves are harvested, steamed and rolled, the finished sencha tea is hand-mixed with roasted rice. Soothing and mellow, the rice adds a wonderful toasted note to this refreshing green tea.

Also available in teabags.

Wonderful tea!

This tea actually makes me look forward to steeping it -- that is how much I find its fragrance mesmerizing. The somewhat grassy and gentle taste of the tea, possibly not to EVERYONE'S liking, makes me feel as if I'm sitting in a beautiful green field of tall grasses, blue sky overhead. Love it.

Go to green tea

My go to cup of green tea. Good for 2 to 3 (if you’re lucky) steepings. Keeping the temperature under 160 and at 30 to 45 seconds (first steeping) worked best for me. Second steeping longer and hotter.
