Enjoy the convenience of Jasmine Pearls in a teabag! This naturally flower-scented green tea is made in Fujian Province, China. A sweet, fragrant cup can be enjoyed through several infusions of the same teabag—watch as the pearls slowly unfurl into beautiful leaf and bud sets.

Traditional production technique is what distinguishes this lot: Crafted solely from spring-picked, southern Chinese green tea and fresh jasmine blossoms, each pearl consists of a silvery bud and tender young leaves, individually rolled by hand and later dried amid flowers to naturally absorb their intense scent. The pearls are intermingled with night-blooming jasmine over a period of five to seven consecutive evenings—which is when most of its essential oils are released. The blossoms are carefully removed each day, leaving the tea redolent of floral sweetness.

The material for our teabags is completely plant-derived, and they are electrostatically sealed—without glue or staples—so the pure flavor and aroma of the tea can shine through. Once used, these teabags can be composted at industrial composting facilities. Find a composter near you in this national directory from the U.S. Composting Council.

How jasmine tea is made

Traditional flower scenting is a painstaking process of layering tea leaves with fragrant blossoms until they're suffused with pleasing aroma. This method—which takes longer and is more costly than using scented oils—yields an aroma that truly bonds with the inherent flavor of the tea.

Naturally scented jasmine pearls are priced according to how many nights of scenting they receive; lower budget versions may just be scented once or twice, while higher value lots like ours could be scented up to seven times. On the first night, 100 pounds of tea will be scented with 200 pounds of jasmine flowers; the next scenting night, 100 pounds of jasmine flowers will be used, then 50 the following, and so on, to more fully fix the fragrance. Workers turn over the pile every few hours to evenly distribute the flowers. The next morning, the mix is run through a sorting machine to remove the spent jasmine blossoms and let the tea dry off for the day.
