Returning to the IPOT lineup after nearly twenty years, this oolong will become an instant favorite. The bright texture and juicy depth is reminiscent of a sweet oat porridge topped with ripe apricots, peaches and honey; heady notes of berry and orchid round out the experience.

The tea industry in this mountainous area of northern Thailand was established in the early 1990s to revitalize agricultural production. Situated at 4500 feet, this organic farm specializes in two traditional Taiwanese oolong cultivars, jin xuan and ruanzhi. For its take on Taiwan’s renown Oriental Beauty, young leaves are nibbled by tiny leafhopper insects, altering the plant’s chemical composition; at two to three weeks’ maturity, they are harvested and gently tossed by hand to encourage oxidation and development of a characteristic sweet, fruity fragrance that lasts through many infusions.
